The Forsaken by Lisa M. Stasse

This felt like a mix between Lost, Lord of the Flies, and the PS3 game Uncharted. Not that there was anything wrong with that. There were moments when I liked this book and the characters, and at other times, I was yelling at them. Alenna’s thoughts, and actions, were sometimes a little odd – jumping all over the place – but she was a nice enough character to root for. I don’t even want to talk about the “romance” though as it was completely unnecessary, and ridiculous.

There were twists, some of which were obvious, and kind of ruined the drama if you guessed them, and others were surprising. I liked the setting – tropical island! – and all the other places they visited were interesting but perhaps a little generic.

I did enjoy it to some extent, but I don’t think I’ll be reading the sequel.
