The Assassin’s Curse by Cassandra Rose Clarke

I really enjoyed this book. The cover drew me in initially, and then it’s blurb – pirates, assassins, adventure, magic – cinched it. I found the protagonist interesting, with funny, realistic thoughts, and I liked how there was only the hint of romance to come, instead of it being forced in. The magic in it reminded me of Howls Moving Castle (the film) with that kind of surrealness to it. The pace was a little slow by the end, but that was the only fault I could find.

I’m anxiously looking forward to the sequel, and thankfully there is a novella out now to tide me over until then.
